Sam Bennett and Victor Lafay signal for revamped Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale crew



Decathlon has been introduced as the brand new title sponsor for the AG2R La Mondiale crew, considerably boosting the French crew’s price range for the following 5 years, with Eire’s Sam Bennett and Victor Lafay revealed as main new signings for 2024.

The French WorldTour crew will probably be often called Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale from January 1 and use Decathlon’s in-house Van Rysel manufacturers of bikes, helmets and sun shades. 

Van Rysel has labored with Swiss Facet, Deda Elementi and Onera, the French aerospace analysis centre, to develop their RSR highway race bike and the FCR time trial bike.

Throughout a presentation on the Decathlon headquarters, close to Lille in northern France, Decathlon made their ambitions clear, saying they are going to considerably increase the crew’s price range to present Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale the price range and know-how to tackle the largest groups within the WorldTour. 

The brand new colors embody Decathlon’s colors of sky blue and white. The crew has changed its stand-out brown shorts for extra conventional black shorts. Italian model Rosti will produce the race clothes.

The 2024 Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale roster consists of Australia’s Ben O’Connor, Benoît Cosnefroy, Tour de France stage winner Felix Gall, Aurélien Paret-Peintre, Oliver Naesen and the USA’s Larry Warbasse.

Bennett’s arrival offers Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale a brand new supply of dash success and gives him an opportunity to reboot his profession. The 33-year-old solely received three minor races in 2023 after not being chosen for the Bora-Hansgrohe Tour de France squad after which being blighted by sickness.
